We thoroughly enjoyed our trip using Ruaridh's van and recommend him - and the van - without reservation. Ruaridh was extremely helpful in every respect (not least, collecting us from the station and then dropping us back afterwards!) and very hospitable. We had the most amazing adventure travelling around the NC500 in Ruaridh's van! The van was really well thought through - plenty of storage, easy to drive, and even had the luxury of being able to stand up inside. Ruaridh himself was fantastic too - he made the whole process so smooth, gave us great advice, and provided all the info we needed. Couldn’t recommend this experience enough!! Agosto 2025

Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Ruaridh was so helpful before collection and really put us at ease with any concerns we may have had and also sent us a really helpful checklist to use. Pickup of the van was again so easy and he made us feel like he really wanted us to just enjoy the vehicle for what it is! The van itself is really well equipped, spacious and reliable. It may be old but we had literally no issues and it was far superior to any van I’ve rented previously Couldn’t recommend enough and I think you’d be missing out if you went anywhere else. Ruaridh saved our trip! Our van from Edinburgh was cancelled a day before our trip and we messaged Ruaridh last minute. He replied promptly, went out of his way to ensure the van was ready for us and picked us up from the train station. We completed over 700 miles in the van doing the NC500. It was perfect for the narrow windy roads and fully equipped with everything we needed when staying in campsites overnight (linens, towels, kitchen equip etc.). The induction to the van was excellent and the van was very well taken care of - the sound system in the back was great! We can’t thank Ruaridh enough for letting us hire his van, we would highly recommend to anyone else who is doing the NC500/visiting the highlands! Agosto 2025

My partner and I had an amazing 10 days using Ruaridh's van to go around the NC500. The van is very simple to drive, and it is a great balance between space + practicality. I always felt confident, on the rare occasions it was needed! It is very well-equipped with cooking equipment, bedding, towels, cleaning supplies, and a phone mount for maps. Blackout curtains for sleeping worked well, and we never felt cold. The fridge is sufficient for two people, and the gas worked as expected. Ruaridh is really knowledgeable when it comes to motorhomes and gave us a thorough run-through of the van beforehand. He is also knowledgeable of the area, friendly and offered advice on our route plan. Would recommend "Thermos" for a trip around the highlands! Agosto 2025

We had an amazing 8-day trip in the van. Perfect for 1-2 people. It is easy to drive, which makes it comfortable to take on some of the small, steep roads out there. Conveniently, the battery is charging very well when driving - we did not hook it up for electric once in the 8 days. Ruaridh is extremely friendly and helpful. He gave us a great induction making us very comfortable with the van from the beginning and helped us with advice along the trip - he was always easy to reach, quick to reply, and sent thorough, well-considered suggestions for hikes or safe places to camp, thanks to his excellent knowledge of the area. He also supplied practical equipment like towels, duvet, etc. for the car and kindly transferred us to and from the train station which was highly convenient. Agosto 2025

Thermos was a great van to explore the highlands with, equipped with everything you might need and powerful enough for the climbs but slow enough to encourage you to lay back and enjoy the spectacular sights Scotland offers. We came to Scotland on a flight and were unable to bring a lot of practical stuff for the journey in the van. So we really appreciated that Ruaridh had thought through most of the practical details and provided things - eg. washing up liquid, bedding, clothes etc. Ruaridh was very prompt and clear with all correspondence. And was a very friendly and personable guy to deal with. He provided more service than any other rental place we can think of. We highly recommend him. Luglio 2025

Hiring 'Thermos' through Ruaridh was an absolute breeze! Ruaridh was very accommodating and extremely helpful, even suggesting some great places to visit based on my personal preferences, which did not disappoint. The whole experience was very professional but also very friendly and personable. Being picked up from the airport was a massive plus and saved a lot of stress and hassle. The van performed as expected and was very clean and organised. I was able to live comfortably off-grid for the duration of the hire and to boot, it looks great too! I can’t thank Ruaridh enough! What a great experience and one that has converted us to the campervan holiday life. From pick up to drop off Ruaridh communicated so well and explained everything so thoroughly that I was completely prepared for anything. The van has clearly been taken care of and upgraded with love and patience from Ruaridh. It was kitted out so perfectly that all we needed was food and we were off on our adventure!
