I’m sorry that this booking did not proceed as originally planned. However, this matter is currently under formal dispute review with Goboony, so I will keep my response factual and concise while that process is ongoing.
The vehicle was made fully available for the duration of the booking period and, as a result, was unavailable for any alternative bookings during that time. I remained available and made every reasonable effort to facilitate the handover.
Unfortunately, the hire could not proceed because the required documentation needed to satisfy the insurer’s verification requirements was not provided. In particular, a valid DVLA check code — or acceptable written confirmation from the DVLA regarding driving convictions within the last 5 years — was not produced despite extended efforts and additional time being allowed to resolve the issue.
These requirements were clearly set out in advance and also formed part of the signed rental terms and conditions.
While I appreciate the hirer’s frustration, I do not believe it is fair to suggest the vehicle was withheld without reason. The vehicle remained available, but I could not legally or responsibly release it without the insurer being able to validate cover. Despite this, the hirer is now seeking a full refund, which is the subject of the ongoing dispute process with Goboony.
I will await Goboony’s decision and cooperate fully with their review.

Our trip to Belgium F1 in Lilibet was amazing from start to finish. Michala’s handover was extremely professional and made it all a breeze, not only on handover day but when we returned from a 12hr trip. I’d also like to mention a step by step YouTube video provided by Michala just in case you get stuck with any set up or operational problems whilst away 👏🏻 genius as we all forget! The camper was immaculately presented to us, and everything worked to perfection whilst away on our camping trip. Anyone looking to hiring a camper, I would strongly recommend Michala. We recently travelled the Atlantic Way along Ireland’s west coast in Kalas Campervan ‘Lillibet’, and we couldn’t recommend it more highly!
The trip simply wouldn’t have been as comfortable, enjoyable, or memorable without this campervan, which we genuinely found to be pretty much perfect.
The van was faultless — clean, spacious, very comfortable, and easy to drive. It was the ideal size: large enough to be roomy, but compact enough to handle Ireland’s narrower roads with ease. We had no issues with the van throughout our trip, aside from a flat tyre caused by a sneaky nail — and even then, Kala was extremely supportive and quick to help, making the situation as stress-free as possible.
Kala herself was wonderful to deal with — kind, informative, and highly organised. Both the booking process and the handovers were smooth, thorough, and straightforward.
It was a real pleasure meeting Kala, and we feel very lucky to have experienced a trip in her campervan. We will definitely be returning for another hire!

We had the most wonderful 4 days away in Lillibet and were very spoilt! Michala went out of her way to make sure the van was ready and well equipped for our first ever trip in a camper van . We were very sad to hand her back and will definitely be planning another trip in her very soon, but this time it will be for longer !
