We had an amazing experience with the campervan. It was our first campervan adventure and we loved it. The van itself drives like a dream and handles very well on the backroads. Sizewise its perfect for all the roads we encountered and where larger motorhomes struggled. Our extended NC500 trip totalled 850 miles, all without any issues. In our opinion we were one of the coolest vans around. The color and retro vibe put a smile on our faces and we were happily greeted by other VW campervans whereever we met them. The van is put together thoughtfully and stocked and equipped with everything you could need and more for your NC500 (or elsewhere) trip. The fridge is large enough to be able to cater to two people for over a week - the kitchen has two burners, pots and pans are big enough to comfortably cook larger portions after a big hike, and there is enough storage to stow away all shopping and luggage. The bed is comfortable (with the topper) and we were nice and toasty during the end-of-September nights due to the warm blanket provided. For extra cold evenings the van is also equipped with a heater which heats up the van very quickly. It is also fully capable of wild-camping with gas, water and electricity available in the van. Ruaridh is a great person. He is very passionate about both the van and the region and really wants to give you the best experience possible for your trip. Picking up the van we went over everything thoroughly so that we fully understood all the equipment. He also gave us some great tips and recommendations which paired really well with our plans. Returning the van we shared stories from our trip over coffee and you could really see that he enjoyed hearing that we had an amazing time. We highly recommend Ruaridh and renting his van!

The van is thoughtfully laid out and includes everything you might need throughout your trip. It is easy to drive and comfortable to stay in. The interior details show that the van has been built by someone who frequently heads out themselves.
Ruaridh was very thoughtful every step of the way: clear communication, kind and very empathetic. He made us feel right at home and was always there when we needed him, but kept a low profile otherwise.
Highly recommended, and we'll be back for sure!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip using Ruaridh's van and recommend him - and the van - without reservation. Ruaridh was extremely helpful in every respect (not least, collecting us from the station and then dropping us back afterwards!) and very hospitable. We would seriously consider using the van again for another exploration of a very beautiful part of the world.

We had the most amazing adventure travelling around the NC500 in Ruaridh's van! The van was really well thought through - plenty of storage, easy to drive, and even had the luxury of being able to stand up inside. Ruaridh himself was fantastic too - he made the whole process so smooth, gave us great advice, and provided all the info we needed. Couldn’t recommend this experience enough!!

My partner and I had an amazing 10 days using Ruaridh's van to go around the NC500. The van is very simple to drive, and it is a great balance between space + practicality. I always felt confident, on the rare occasions it was needed! It is very well-equipped with cooking equipment, bedding, towels, cleaning supplies, and a phone mount for maps. Blackout curtains for sleeping worked well, and we never felt cold. The fridge is sufficient for two people, and the gas worked as expected. Ruaridh is really knowledgeable when it comes to motorhomes and gave us a thorough run-through of the van beforehand. He is also knowledgeable of the area, friendly and offered advice on our route plan. Would recommend "Thermos" for a trip around the highlands!

Thermos was a great van to explore the highlands with, equipped with everything you might need and powerful enough for the climbs but slow enough to encourage you to lay back and enjoy the spectacular sights Scotland offers. Ruaridh was also great, he gave us great advice on our trip and was always available for any issue.

Hiring 'Thermos' through Ruaridh was an absolute breeze! Ruaridh was very accommodating and extremely helpful, even suggesting some great places to visit based on my personal preferences, which did not disappoint. The whole experience was very professional but also very friendly and personable. Being picked up from the airport was a massive plus and saved a lot of stress and hassle. The van performed as expected and was very clean and organised. I was able to live comfortably off-grid for the duration of the hire and to boot, it looks great too! Everything I needed was available and of great quality. I will definitely hire this van again, or a similar one through Ruaridh at some point. TOP MARKS!

I can’t thank Ruaridh enough! What a great experience and one that has converted us to the campervan holiday life. From pick up to drop off Ruaridh communicated so well and explained everything so thoroughly that I was completely prepared for anything. The van has clearly been taken care of and upgraded with love and patience from Ruaridh. It was kitted out so perfectly that all we needed was food and we were off on our adventure! I also received a little surprise at the end that I will cherish for a long time. Thank you again Ruaridh!

We had an absolutely amazing experience! The campervan is incredibly well-equipped – it truly has everything you could possibly need. It’s very easy to drive, with the perfect size for manoeuvring and parking, while still offering a comfortable and spacious interior for two people. Ideal especially for those who don’t yet have much experience driving a van. Everything went smoothly with both collection and return, and Ruaridh worked alongside us to quickly overcome any small issues that came up along the way. The deposit was promptly refunded, and the whole process was completely transparent and honest. Ruaridh is exceptionally helpful, honest, and trustworthy. He was always just a call or message away, ready to assist whenever needed. It’s clear he has great care and affection for his campervans – you can really see it in the effort he puts into their upkeep, maintenance, and thoughtful optimisation. We would definitely love to rent from him again!

Our motorhome broke down and we hired thermos to do the NC500. Ruaridh’s help in a really stressful situation was first class. He helped with our plans and was easily contactable throughout our trip. Thermos is a versatile campervan and is ideal for the single lanes of the highlands. We are already thinking of hiring her again for next year. We came quite attached to the van and we’re sorry to say goodbye.
