A lovely van which we really enjoyed having an adventure in. Great, very friendly handover and handback. There were a few minor issues which were dealt with brilliantly (including havng to drive through Storm Floris!). We called the van Angus and felt he was part of the trip which took us via Edinburgh to the Northumberland coast for a half marathon. A really lovely 4 days. Agosto 2025

We are a couple with a 10 year-old kid and rented the van for 12 days to discover the Highlands, islands and Edinburgh. We free camped all days and the camper was really in a good shape. Really easy to drive, powerful and fit for the sometimes excessively narrow Scottish roads. The interior is small but if well organised, can be very comfortable. We managed to be totally independent and do the trip we wanted. The owner really nice and always available. Totally recommendable.  Settembre 2017

Stephen fue puntual a la hora y lugar que habíamos acordado. Fue muy amable,atento y educado con nosotros. Además, nos ayudó a recuperar una maleta pérdida llevándonos a Glasgow en su coche. La furgoneta estaba limpia y en perfectas condiciones (fuel, gas,...). La cama es bastante cómoda y se cocina sin problemas. Además, es fácil de conducir (es automática, lo cual ayuda mucho). Escocia es el mejor lugar para hacer un road trip.   Stephen was punctual at the time and place we had agreed. He was very kind, attentive and polite to us. In addition, he helped us retrieve a lost suitcase by taking us to Glasgow in his car. The van was clean and in perfect condition (fuel, gas, ...). The bed is quite comfortable and we could cook without problems. In addition, it is easy to drive (it is automatic, which helps a lot). Scotland is the best place to do a road trip. Totally recommendable.      Settembre 2017

Awesome! Undoubtedly Stephen's van is the best option to see the most beautiful landscapes of Scotland! The van has all kinds of utensils necessary for free camping. He gave us (coffee, sugar, salt oil etc ..) The heating works perfect and the bed very comfortable. He was flexible in the hours and place to meet us and told us some more places to see. We recommend 100% experience. Unbeatable!     ¡Increíble! Sin dudas, la furgoneta de Stephen es la mejor opción para ver los paisajes más bellos de Escocia. La camper tiene todo tipo de utensilios necesarios para acampada libre. Nos dio (café, azúcar, aceite de sal, etc.) La calefacción funciona perfectamente y la cama muy cómoda. Era flexible en las horas y el lugar para reunirse con nosotros y nos dijo algunos lugares más para ver. Recomendamos 100% la experiencia. ¡Inmejorable!     Aprile 2018

Mon mari et moi avons passé un super voyage à la découverte des Highlands ! Stephen a été d’une grande gentillesse et à rendu notre séjour très facile , toujours soucieux de notre confort ! Le van était super bien équipé: vaisselle , frigo, jeux de société , tables / chaises etc ! Comma à la maison mais en pleine nature ! Las mejores vacaciones de nuestra vida. Viajamos por gran parte de Escocia durante 11 dias con la van de Stephen. El vehiculo se conduce muy facil, es como si llevaras un coche pequeño! Dormimos casi todos los dias al aire libre en sitios increibles. El tamaño del vehiculo es perfecto, porque para mi gusto algo mas pequeño seria incómodo y más grande no podrías acceder a tantos sitios. La van está como nueva, funciona de maravilla y gracias a su color parece limpia en todo momento. En cuanto al propietario es un hombre excelente, muy cercano y amable y siempre disponible ante cualquier duda o problema que pueda surgir durante el viaje. Experiencia totalmente recomendable.   The best holidays of our life.   We traveled through Scotland for 11 days with Stephen's van. The vehicle is very easy to drive, practically like driving a small car! We slept almost every day outdoors in incredible places. The size of the vehicle is perfect, because for my taste something smaller would be uncomfortable and bigger would be a problem to access to some places. The van is like new, it works perfectly and thanks to its color it seems always clean! As for the owner he is an excellent man, very close and kind and always available for any doubt or problem that may happen during the trip.   Totally recommended experience Giugno 2018

Stephen was an exceptionally warm,friendly and accommodating host , and he went out of his way to pick us up from the train station and also drop us off at the airport upon completion of our hire. He made us feel comfortable and fully explained all the formalities of the hiring process. His vehicle was well equipped to make our road trip a very memorable and enjoyable one. The vehicles electrical water pump for the sink unit was a nice touch.Extras like picnic backpack , linen, chairs and table for outside use, umbrellas, first aid kit, portable toilet etc etc etc! were a welcome addition . Stephen fue muy amable en todo momento, preocupándose de todos los detalles. La furgoneta está en buen estado y nos sorprendió la cantidad de utensilios que llevaba dentro: cafetera, termo, televisión, hornillos, wc, etc. aunque nosotros utilizamos sólo lo imprescindible. Nos dejó la ropa de cama y toallas. Realmente una furgoneta y un anfitrión muy recomendables! Gracias Stephen! Stephen was very nice at all time, worrying about all the details. The van is in good condition and we surprised the quantity of utensils that was going inside: coffee machine, thermos, television, stoves, wc, etc. Though we use only the indispensable thing. Pour un premier road trip, j'ai vraiment été agréablement surpris. Le van de Stephen est bien aménagé et propre, plutôt simple à conduire (pour moi qui n'avait jamais conduit un van, et encore moins sur les routes britanniques). L'intérieur est vraiment bien aménagé, c'est assez intuitif, nous n'avons eu aucun problème à nous organiser à trois dedans pendant une semaine.  Au-delà de ça, Stephen est une personne très sympathique, il a pris un temps au départ pour nous expliquer toutes les fonctionnalités du van, et même faire un petit tour avec nous pour nous familiariser avec les routes écossaises. Il était réellement dans un esprit de partage, ce qu'on attend lorsqu'on passe par un service de particulier à particulier.  Je recommande donc ce van à tous ceux qui souhaitent partir à l'aventure en Ecosse !  Agosto 2018

Stephen was an excellent host. And the VW camper was brilliant, easy to drive and easy to live in. on the pick up day, Stephen gave us an overview of all the key essentials, and how to use the VW, it didn’t take long though and were quickly the road. The camper was surprisingly easy to drive even though it is much bigger than a car, we took it on the North Coast 500 and it handled the narrow and twisty roads perfectly. Inside there was everything you would need for 2 adults and a dog to stay in for 10 days. It took us a couple of days to get fully into our stride on how to live in a camper as it was our first experience of one, but honestly you would not want anything larger for what we did, and it had everything we needed, we even managed to wild camp in it. If you are planning a tour of any part of Scotland, I would wholly recommend Stephen and his VW Camper. Settembre 2018

First time we rented a van and what a great idea to visit Scotland! Stephen's van is perfect: well equipped, comfortable, practical... it will allow you to go anywhere. I must say that Stephen was a very pleasant person to deal with, communication went well and accurate, he took his time to show and explain the VW campervan and was available during our trip might something happen. He also made enquiries after the first night asking if all was ok which we found very neat. Handing over and returning the van was hassle free and based on mutual trust which we found to be very pleasant. The campervan itself was clean inside and outside and in good working order, easy to drive and perfect for the small single lane roads as you find many off along the north and west coastline.   We would certainly recommend Stephen as a trustworthy and very pleasant person to deal with. His VW-van is ideal to get off the beaten track in Scotland especially when you camp in the "wild" but having a pitch on a campground is fine as well off course. Stephen was great, we were a bit late but he was understanding. Communication was great, he texted me via whatsapp a wee manual with all the instructions for the best usage of the van's feature. When we jumped in the van we were happy to notice the van had been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. The van drove beatifully and we did not have any issues at all. Stephen is a very helpful owner making sure we understood everything on the van and provided many extras which were really helpful for the trip. For just two of us we didnt need all the extras so worth asking Stephen to remove extra items you don't need which gives more space for your items. We used the gas bbqs he provided rather than the Wallis cooker, which worked well for us. The Wallis coooker does have a bit of a diesel smell when being used. Family Trip Great van for family, 2 adults and 2 kids spent 3 nights touring around Dumfries. Stephen had plenty of extras to help you with trip, cooking equipment, chairs and everything you need for a trip. Plenty of storage and van easy to drive. 100% would recommend! Thank you so much Stephen! Stephen made the vehicle hire really easy, stress free and was very friendly and approachable. We covered most of the NC 500 over 5 days, wild camping for 2 nights and then in campsites for the other 2 -  the hob was very useful for cooking our meals on and making hot drinks. The fold out bed worked really well and was super easy to use. We were also surprised by how roomy the van was once the roof is up and bags in the back. Stephen provided everything we needed for the trip - bedding, kitchen utensils, cutlery, cooking facilities, mosquitoe hats, picnic blanket, chairs and much more. If you want a stress free host experience I would definitely recommend.The views were breath taking and we will back next year hopefully to finish the 500 :) Agosto 2021

Stephen ist ein super Vermieter. Er war für uns jederzeit erreichbar und immer nett und höflich. Hat uns für unsere Reise innerhalb Schottlands sogar viele Tipps und zwei coole Bücher mitgegeben. Der Van hat für zwei Personen und für zwei Wochen Wildcampen genau das getan, was er tun musste: Uns einen gemütlichen Aufenthalt gegeben. Die Ausstattung war für unseren Zweck mehr als ausreichend. Ein paar neue scharfe Messer könnte er aber gebrauchen ;-) Leider verging der Urlaub viel zu schnell! Was am Ende noch gesagt werden kann/muss?! We had a great trip round the NC500 in Stephen’s van. The van itself was very clean and well maintained - everything in full working order. Stephen was extremely helpful when we collected the van and clearly showed us how to use all its features to make the most of our time away. While away, Stephen was on hand to answer a couple of queries that we had. The van itself was an extremely smooth and comfortable drive, and Stephen added in plenty amenities (kettle, camp chairs etc) which made the whole experience much easier and more comfortable. Whilst it did not detract from my holiday I have to say that I was very disappointed in the vehicle.  The description of the vehicle and equipment includes, a TV, Awning and BBQ, none of these items were available, with this only becoming aware at the time of picking the vehicle up or after having the vehicle.  When going over the vehicle with Stephen on the morning of pick up he advised that there was no TV, as someone some time ago and got water on it and it had been removed, there was no BBQ, but there were 3 gas camping stoves (2 of these did not work) and on the first night of the hire I discovered there was no awning. I hadn't noticed at the time of going over the vehicle, Stephen later advised when I mentioned this when bringing the vehicle back at the end of hire that it had been removed a few years earlier.  These advertised items if not available, should be removed from the vehicle description - it is no good finding this out when you are about to leave for your trip, and have no access to any other vehicle.  Whilst the visible surfaces of the vehicle were clean there were some areas that were not very clean, for example the cutlery drawer was dirtly and had things such as spent matches lying in it, the cab door compartments were full of mud and grit.  When I went to fill the water containers I noticed that the jubilee clip attaching the hose to the pump was severely rusted/corroded and therefore did not use the water pump.  The cooker/heater operates off the vehicles diesel, and Stephen explained how this operated and said that initially there was a bit of a smell of diesel, but that went away after a bit, unfortunately I did not find that to be the case, the smell of fumes persisted, particularly when using he heater as clearly the door was closed as heat was required.  Some limited research suggested that these types of cookers/heaters were common in campervans, but that they were odourless and the units were sealed, I did not find that was the case here. The windscreen washer bottle was completely empty, I would have expected that to have been checked and filled before the vehicle was hired out.  Whilst the Rental agreement states the tyres were 'New' and in 'Good Condition', that was not the case.  I noted during the week that the front tyres were at best on the very limit of being legal and by the time I had returned the vehicle (I only drove 1025miles) at least one of the tyres was below the limit - clearly dangerous and potentially an offence for me if there had been any accident etc as I was driving the vehicle at the time.  Dicembre 2021

My girlfriend and I took a trip to the Highlands for a few days. Stephen's van is perfect for touring Scotland, it's small (smaller than a caravan), but very roomy inside (being the long model vw transporter). Everything worked perfectly and we didn't have any problems. Also Stephen is a very kind and generous person. What we liked the most is that Stephen has many videos on youtube explaining how the van works, we were able to watch it before check-in and during the trip if we had any questions. Very useful. vame -PASADO A UK HASTA EL 30-08> Ropa de cama y toallas limpias. Limpieza del resto del vehículo, colchones y vajilla un poco justa. Los colchones son de espuma fina, no son viscoelásticos, y se te clava la estructura de hierro de los asientos. La cama de la wesfalia con ese colchón tan fino es muy dura, como una tabla. No hemos conseguido que la cocina nos funcione, aunque te dejan por si acaso el camping gas. Los enchufes para usb y mechero de la parte de atrás tampoco funcionaban. De la parte de adelante solo funcionaban dos. Una noche llovió bastante y tuvimos goteras en la parte trasera de la furgoneta. Como positivo en cuanto a herramientas de cocina estaba muy completa y las luces funcionaban muy bien. No consume mucha gasolina._______________________ OWNER'S ANWSER :  We understand you were struggling to operate the stove and USB ports - these are checked prior to every hire and were working well. We did provide stove instructions to you - it does appear that, even with instructions provided, some renters may struggle to operate, and so a gas stove is provided as a back-up. The van and contents are cleaned and disinfected prior to hire, and we provide foam mattresses for ease of storage. The leaking you have reported from the pop-top roof was noted. We have checked for any slight tears or damage, following your trip.  Agosto 2023
